The sky finally cleared up after rainy weather for a week, the scorching hot subsided as plants started to freshen up and thrive. Top oncologists in the province gathered in Enan for a top event—and what’s new about it?
On July 12, amid balmy breeze and fine weather, Tongji Chibi Hospital (Enan Cancer Hospital), a hospital of Beijing Aikang Group, hosted Elekta Infinity™ Linear Accelerator Inauguration Ceremony and the 4th Enan Oncology Summit.
On 8:30 in the morning, over 200 delegates gathered for this significant moment in the multifunctional conference room of the hospital.
With Dr. Fang Dianwei, Vice Superintendent of the hospital chairing the event, the inauguration ceremony for Elekta Infinity™ linear accelerator kicked off with the opening speech by Dr. Pi Zhijie, Superintendent of Tongji Chibi Hospital, who reviewed how the hospital developed into what it is today and thanked the experts and leaders of higher level hospitals including Tongji Hospital of Tongji Medical School, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, People’s Hospital of Wuhan University, Zhongnan Hospital and Provincial Cancer Hospital for their guidance and instructions. He went on to address Xianning Health Commission, Chibi Municipal Government and Party Committee, Chibi Health Bureau and peer hospitals by expressing gratitude for their support, and told all personnel at the hospital how much he appreciated everyone’s dedication and endeavors. To upgrade the quality of cancer treatment, Tongji Chibi Hospital made a significant investment in Elekta Infinity™ linear accelerator。
Prof. Zhou Yunfeng, former superintendent of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, Prof. Yuan Xianglin and Hu Guoqing, Director of Oncology Center of Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical School of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Song Qibin, Director of Oncology Center of People’s Hospital of Wuhan University, Prof. Xie Conghua, Director of Department of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, among other big names in the oncology field was invited to the event, together with over 200 delegates present at the summit including Dr. Shu Chengrong, Director of Oncology, Central Hospital of Xianning, Dr. Wu Siming, Vice Superintendent of Tongcheng People’s Hospital and doctors of the oncology department of other hospitals in Xianning.
Prof. Zhou Yunfeng stated that quality control should be the priority of cancer treatment, with the overall treatment results reaching or exceeding the average level of the province, and higher five-year survival rate of cancer patients.
On behalf of the People’s Hospital of Wuhan University and the Association of Clinical Oncologists of Hubei, Prof. Song Qibin pledged to support the development of Enan Cancer Hospital as always.
Present at the event were also Li Huaping, Director of Xianning Municipal Health Commission, He Fei, Vice Major of Chibi Municipal Government, Ye Yingfu and Peng Yonghong, Deputy Director-Generals of Chibi Municipal Health Commission and Qian Pingping, Director of CDC of Chibi.

The inauguration ceremony was followed by the 4th Enan Oncology Summit chaired by Prof. Pi Zhengchao, Director of Oncology Center of Tongji Chibi Hospital, executive chair and moderator of the Summit. A series of keynote presentations on oncology delivered by Prof. Yuan Xianglin, Prof. Xie Conghua, Prof. Song Qibin and Dr. Jin Guanghua of Tongji Chibi Hospital received positive feedback and inspired heated discussions.
